First Sonnet: Dreams

How do we escape the grasps of reality?
Within dreams, impossibilities cease to exist
Though it's fake and desired in actuality
Its wishes and illusions are too good to resist
Love is rejected and shamed in real life
Its problems and devotion too much to keep
While the pain stabs hearts just like a knife,
dreams keep the drama from going too deep
The dream plays out better than the real thing
and it takes a choke-hold on the lover,
whose mind takes the sadness and joy it brings
and uses it just like a secure cover
But when our eyes are wide open and we wake,
our dreams are then temporary and fake
